Bunlar Var, Bunlar Bizim anlamlanmış, değerlenmiş, değerini yitirmiş, anlamlandırılamamış, kendi kendinin parodisine dönüşmüş, tekrar tekrar üretilmiş, aslına uygun olduğu iddia edilmiş olanla; geçmiş ve tarih ile ilgili bir yerleştirme. Bu yerleştirmede bir nakarat olarak kullanılan çeşme, güç, para ve prestij sahibi olanın bahşettiği, geçmişten gelip var olmaya devam etmesine rağmen eski işaret değerini kaybetmiş, adlandırılan, sahiplenilmekle beraber kamusal ve umumi olan bir nesne olarak karşımıza çıkıyor.

“There are These, These are Ours” is an installation consisting of a video, a stop-motion animation, a sculpture, and a print. The installation addresses how (historical) objects function as a token of meaning and value.

We exhibited a replica of Şehzade Seyfettin Fountain, believed to be built in the 19th century, and partially destroyed in the 1950s. The residents of the neighborhood salvaged parts of it, and kept it in a provisional form until a recent renovation. We were drawn to what this vernacular form holds. The video “Cabbage Fountain” is a mockumentary about the story of an odd-looking fountain in Çengelköy, İstanbul, supposedly built to show support for a javelin team called Cabbagers. “Days of Old” is a stop motion animation of a stone instantly growing a beard while it is lying on satin fabric.
